I received this email from Charlie Arnott of The Boorowa District Landscape Guardians who are fighting against the government  on the erection of Wind Turbines.

UPDATE 26/09/11:  Click here to listen to Charlie & Sam on the Allan Jones show on 2gb

Hello members and friends

Sorry about the short notice, but we can blame the current Federal Government for trying to sneak this through Parliament without proper scrutiny and debate….

The current debate on the Carbon Tax has become clearly linked to wind turbines, as they are seen as the only way for governments to meet their targets.  On the basis of current knowledge in Australia, this will INEVITABLY  make many more rural residents sick, and drive more off their land and out of their homes, if the development is allowed to proceed without any informed regulation about siting them well away from homes to prevent this from happening.  This cannot happen until the research is done, unless the developments are sited well away from homes.  No research has been funded despite proposals being ready and waiting to go….
If you are able to put in even just a brief submission, outlining your concerns the details are below.  Submissions close tomorrow.

If you haven’t already done so, please submit itto bothInquiries:

1.     Submission to the Inquiry into Australia’s Clean Energy Future.  Email to:jscacefl@aph.gov.au.

2.     Submission to the Inquiry into Carbon Tax Pricing Mechanisms.  Ignore the closing date and submit it anyway.

We’ve been advised the following:

Dont worry about reading the bills or pointing out the relevance just get the infosubmitted.

This is really important, there is a lot more info together since the wind farm inquiry and now it will getmore air time.

It is a chance to ask what the Government is doing about implementing the recommendations of the Senate Inquiry, and why a Precautionary approach is not being adopted as the NH&MRC CEO advocated in his testimony to the Senate Inquiry, etc etc.
The carbon tax will raise $105 Billion for Australia’s clean energy future.  Put simply, the government will take $105 Billion dollars from us and spend it on wind turbine subsidies.

Also keep in mind the 2 largest contractors of wind farms is an Indian & Spanish Company, so that is where most of that $105 Billion will go

  1. I have been searching for ways to stop a windfarm from happening in Wingeel Victoria. I firstly wasn’t oposed to renewable energy, but on listening to the developers proposal I am mortified. The 80 turbine farm proposal is to cost $500 million ..it’s life expectancy is 25 yrs..those to gain from this wind farm…the land holder..good luck to them…and the council…something funny about this..we have had “meetings” with the developers regarding this..prior to this this our mayor was present to opose the opposition meeting of windfarms in the area. It would appear to me that it’s a foregone conclusion..the wind farm will go ahead. Do we really think that we can beat this govt when we have a leader that states “there will be no carbon tax under a govt that I run” and then bends over to Bob…Shame Shame Shame to any one that voted for this govt..you are sending ALL AUSTRALIANS to the wall…the only people that seem to GET at the moment with this govt are the so called”ASSYLUM SEEKERS” who could have stopped at many “friendly” destinations along the way…but no Let’s all fund islamic rule as well.

Congratulations to the worst Government on EARTH.

  2. I would love to have a wind farm on my property.
